Downlights can make a beautiful statement in any home. They can draw attention to a main feature or just to brighten up your room. They help bring a good level of lighting with the added benefit of sitting flush to the ceiling so you don't need to worry about issues with low celings.
We fit one brand of downlight because they tick all the boxes for any location. They are:
- IP67 rated so they compliant in bathrooms.
- Fire-rated so they seal the hole created and keep your fire barrier to any rooms above.
- Dimmable so you have the benefit of being able to set to your own comfortable level (must be fitting with an appropriate dimmer switch)
- Have 3 settings to enable you to choose between warm white, cool white and daylight.
- Only 40mm deep so fit into almost any void.
- Push fit, maintenance free connections so there are no terminals that can potentially work themselves loose over time.
To install these in your ceiling your electrician will cut holes in which the downlight will fit into. Although the prefered method is to take up floorboards to run cable to downlights there is the option to take a strip out of the ceiling below to allow joists to be drilled for the cable run, this can then be replaced and filled by a plasterer (we do not offer this as we believe it to be more cost effective and a better finish when it is done by someone who purely offers this service but we can recommend tradesman that we have a good working relationship with)
LED Downlights will have longer lifespans and are more energy efficient. Some LED downlights will also give you the capability to change the colour temperature of the light.
When thinking about how many you may need to light up your room it is usually around 1 downlight per 1.4m2, although your electrician will be able to tell how many you will need to give you the lighting you desire.
